The MYOB Australian Small Business Survey for July has found that approximately 40% of small businesses believe the new IR laws are unfair. However half of the 1189 companies surveyed would oppose Labor's plan to abolish the new legislation.
The survey also found that 62% of businesses wouldn't change their approach to taking on new employees because of WorkChoices. Only 5% strongly agreed the changes would make them more likely to take on new staff.
Forty percent rated their knowledge of the laws was poor or low.
"These must be damning statistics for the Government that has 'sold' this new legislation to small business on its productivity gains and increased employment" said Tim Reed, Managing Director of MYOB.
Many believe small firms are not in any hurry to make changes until the dust settles.
